Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia, has maintained a mission partnership with Mengo Hospital in Kampala, Uganda, for over 40 years through the Friends of Mengo (FOM), USA committee at Christ Church. More recently, the church also helped establish the Mengo Hospital Partners (MHP), a separate U.S.-based nonprofit that supports Mengo’s mission of delivering compassionate, Christ-centered healthcare. While both entities share a commitment to Mengo Hospital, they are distinct committees supporting different initiatives.

Over the years, Friends of Mengo, USA has contributed significantly to Mengo’s growth. During the COVID-19 pandemic, FOM provided over $40,000 toward the hospital’s response, including the establishment of a COVID ward and strengthen the hospital’s HIV response.

In parallel, Mengo Hospital Partners continues to contribute through regular fundraising, supporting medical supplies, infrastructure expansion, and emergency response efforts.

Together, these partnerships reflect a deep-rooted relationship built on shared faith, service, and a mutual desire to strengthen Mengo’s legacy as East Africa’s pioneering hospital.
